It's Day 278 of the year and main project, which means Day 5 of the 31 Days of Hallowe'en Challenge and the #31DayHorrorChallenge being hosted by Nightmare on Film Street.

Today I lucked out and found one movie that filled the requirements for both prompts. The theme for my own 31 Days of Hallowe'en challenge is Slasher and the prompt for the 31 Day Horror Challenge is Paranormal Investigation. I picked the movie The Haunting of the Murder House.

A group of internet paranormal investigators decide to live stream themselves while locked into a house that was owned by a serial killer. After the first hour, they begin to experience visions and voices of the victims. They uncover a mask worn by the killer within a hidden room, the man had claimed he'd been possessed. Now, one of them is experiencing the same thing. One by one they fear for their lives.

This is a low budget film that uses the concept of reality television and social media to it's advantage. While it's not breaking any ground in the sub-genre it's apart of, it's one of the better produced ones out there. The characters are written well enough and the limited effects are used to perfection. It's subtle the way low budget movies should be.

I'll be posting every day this month, so come back tomorrow to see what's on the slab. And if you want to follow my daily Letterboxd lists you can here and here.
