31 Days of Hallowe'en Challenge: Day 16

It's day 289 of the year and main project. That means we are on Day 16 of the 31 Days of Hallowe'en Challenge and the #31DayHorrorChallenge being hosted by Nightmare on Film Street.

Today, my own 31 Days of Hallowe'en mini challenge is New To You. And, the 31 Day Horror Challenge from Nightmare on Film Street prompt is Scary Stories Come To Life. I picked Urban Legends Final Cut

A group of film students decide to make their final project about the urban legends that they all heard growing up. But as they create each story, one by one the crew are being killed in the same style as the stories they are filming. Can the director figure out in time who is behind the mask?

At first glance this seems like it's just based off of common urban legends, but it's actually based off of Vertigo by Hitchcock. This point is driven home throughout the movie with reference to the students trying to win an award called the Hitchcock, and the theme music at the end of the movie is from the old tv show Hitchcock Presents. This manages to blend perfectly the common genres Hitchcock used in most of his movies - horror and suspense with drama and mystery.
