2024 Hallowe'en Movie challenges Day 16

It's day 290 of the year and the project, which means it's Day 16 of the 31 Days of Hallowe'en challenges. I'm starting as always with my own 31 Days of Hallowe'en, which I talked about in August. My mini theme today is Witches. I picked The Craft.

Sarah moves to a new town with her dad and step mother, and instantly starts hanging out with three girls in school who are shunned as witches. Soon, the four of them have formed a very powerful coven, and begin taking revenge on those who wronged them. Only, as they grow stronger, people around them keep ending up dead.

Given the fact this movie is almost 30 years old, I'm going to assume most people have seen it. One of the things I've always loved about this movie, is the fact they used a real Wiccan advisor on set. Yes, the magick is based in real spellwork. I'm not going to say too much more now, as I want to do a full article on this movie at a later date.

And the 31 Days of Horror being hosted by Nightmare on Film Street. Their challenge today was Tales From The... I picked Tales from the Darkside Movie

Three spooky tells being told to a cannibal by a young boy in order to distract her so he can escape. The first is about a Mummy and revenge, the second about a Cat and revenge, and the final is a twisted love story about an artist and a statue.

I'm not the biggest fan of anthologies, so this was a pleasant enough surprise as to how good it actually was. The parts with the boy who's reading the stories was the most interesting to me. I almost wish that had been the entire plot.

That's about it for today, don't forget to check out my daily Letterboxd lists, as I'm also doing the #100HorrorMoviesIn92Days challenge this year as well. Let's see if I can actually make it to 100 movies.

Come back tomorrow and see what's on the slab.
