It's day 300 of the year and main project. We are now sitting at Day 27 of the 31 Days of Hallowe'en challenge and the #31DayHorrorChallenge that is hosted by Nightmare On Film Street.

Starting with my own 31 Days of Hallowe'en, my theme today is Watch it for the Soundtrack. I picked Lost Boys.

When Sam and Michael move with their now divorced mother to live with their grandfather, they find themselves living in a town with a very high murder rate. On their first night out exploring the area, Michael comes face to face with a gang of teenaged vampires. Now, it's up to Sam and his new friends to save his brother.

This is the uber cult classic vampire movie from the 80's that everyone loves to death. I don't really think I need to say much else about it. The soundtrack has been a favourite of mine for the last 40 years! While everyone talks about the songs "Cry Little Sister" and "I Still Believe", I have always had a soft spot for "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me."

And the prompt today for the 31 Day Horror Challenge from Nightmare on Film Street, is Creepy Neighbours. I picked Get Off My Lawn.

A young couple move into their first home, which was an amazing deal for them as long as they agreed to take it "as is". Within hours of signing the lease, the grandson of the former owner arrives at their door, refusing to give up the family home.

This starts off really slow, but by the last half hour, it's in full gory swing. The teenaged grandson, is a lesson in how to write a psychopath. This character reminded me so often of Norman Bates from Psycho. He is just unhinged to the max. I thought this stuck the balance between isolation horror and home invasion horror perfectly.

I'm posting everyday this month for the two challenges, so come back tomorrow and see what's on the slab. If you want to follow along on my daily Letterboxd lists, you can here and here.
