2024 Hallowe'en Movie Challenges Day 27

We are day 301 of the year and the projects. And today is Day 27 of the 31 Days of Hallowe'en challenges. I'm starting as always, with my own 31 Days of Hallowe'en challenge, which I talked about last August. My mini theme today is A Movie That Repeats All Week on TV. I picked Friday 13th Part 8 Jason Takes Manhattan.

A group of high school students rent a boat on the eve of their graduation to take them from Crystal Lake to New York. Unknown to them, Jason has hitched a ride.

This one plays massively on the isolation fear, with the group trapped on a boat for almost the full movie. What outdoors scenes we do have, are few but it really doesn't need too many anyways, as it works better I think as an isolation horror movie. I have to admit, it's been a long while since I've seen this unedited for television, and can not remember why the lead girl has visions? The Friday 13th franchise is one of my least favourite of the horror icons (Texas Chainsaw Massacre being the lowest), and I've only seen each movie about three times each over the decades.

And the 31 Days of Horror Challenge being hosted by Nightmare on Film Street. Their topic today is B-Movie Madness. I picked The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

When Brad and Janet end up with car trouble during a storm, they have no choice but to take shelter at the mansion of Dr Frank n Furter. The couple soon discover their host is not what he first appears, as he's having a "coming out" party for his new creation. A blonde man-bride. But, that's not even the half of what's in store for our heroes.

I can't think of anything that is more B-Movie than the one that crosses all the genres.

Don't forget to check out my daily Letterboxd lists, as I am doing a few movie challenges this year. Such as #100HorrorMoviesIn92Days

Come back tomorrow to see what's on the slab.
