It's Day 293 of the year and main project. That brings us to Day 20 of the 31 Days of Hallowe'en challenge and the #31DayHorrorChallenge being hosted by Nightmare on Film Street.

Starting with my own 31 Days of Hallowe'en, my challenge theme today is Tim Burton Movie. I picked Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.

It's been 30 years since Lydia had last seen Beetlejuice. And in that time, she's discovered she has a natural gift of seeing ghosts. Now, learning her father has died in a horrible accident, she and her daughter return home for the funeral. But, things go far from smooth when Lydia's boyfriend tags along. With only two days till Hallowe'en, their family are visited by more undead than they can handle.

This is the second time I've seen this movie. I went last year to the cinema opening weekend, and it's one of those movies that is cute enough. It did get better/more interesting on this second watching thought to be honest. Like the first movie, Beetlejuice starts off as the villain, but you realize in the end he's the hero.

The 31 Day Horror Challenge being hosted by Nightmare on Film Street prompt of the day is Movie with a Famous Jump Scare. I picked Smile.

After a therapist witnesses a patient kill herself, she becomes paranoid. She follows up on some of the details that the patient was talking about, only to find a pattern of deaths going back months. As she begins seeing things and loosing time, she starts to think she might be next.

This movie had two jump scares. I was disappointed by this one. The story had it's moments, but took a little too long to set up.

I'm posting everyday this month for the two challenges, so come back tomorrow and see what's on the slab. If you'd like to follow along with my daily Letterboxd lists, you can here and here.
