It's day 284 of the year and main project, which means we are on day 11 of the 31 Day Hallowe'en Challenge and the #31DayHorrorChallenge being hosted by Nightmare on Film Street.

As always, I'm starting with my own 31 Days of Hallowe'en challenge. Today's mini theme is Werewolves. I picked Viking Wolf.

When a teenaged girl sneaks out to a party in the woods, she witnesses a couple of her school mates being attacked by a large creature. She manages to get away with only a few scratches, but starts to fill ill because of them. The next day, the police discover the body of her friend torn to pieces. They create a search and destroy mission for the wolf that they know did it. Before long, a strange hunter arrives to town claiming it's a werewolf. As the wolf terrorizes the area, the teenager falls under the influence of the full moon.

This reminded me so much of Ginger Snaps but with more of a crime twist to it. The gore is there but not to the extreme like some other werewolf movies. While the transformation scene is done practically, the main wolf in this looks really good; very realistic for what I can assume is all CGI.

And the prompt today for the 31 Days Horror Challenge being hosted by Nightmare on Film Street is Mall Madness. I picked Chopping Mall

A group of college students decide to break into the mall after hours to party. Unknown to them, lightening from a brief storm short circuits the new robot security, sending the new robots loose. The robots are designed to tell the difference between intruders and staff, but are now unable to and instead of sending a tranquilizer dart they are just killing.

Cult classic 80's cheesy horror filled to the brim with daytime soap opera actors. I miss movies like this, they just don't make them like this anymore. The story is simple and it works.

I'm posting everyday this month for the two 31 Days challenges, so come back tomorrow and see what's on the slab. If you want to follow along on my daily Letterboxd lists, you can here and here.
