It's Day 283 of the year and main project, bringing us to Day 10 of the 31 Days of Hallowe'en challenge and the #31DayHorrorChallenge being hosted by Nightmare on Film Street.
My own 31 Days of Hallowe'en challenge theme today is Family Friendly. I picked Munsters Go Home.

When Herman learns he's inherited the entire Munster fortune, the family sets off to England. When they arrive, they find another branch of the family less then welcoming. Herman and Grandpa discover a secret counterfeiting room in the basement, uncovering a lot of family secrets. Meanwhile, Marylin has started dating the young man in the area, unknown to her the two families have a feud that's been going on for years. When Herman enters a car race for the family honor, someone has it out for him.
This film manages to fit what feels like half a season of the series into an almost two hour timeframe. The have a few adventures between Grandpa turning into a wolf and being captured on the ship while traveling, this is also where Marylin meets her boyfriends. Then there is the family trying to scare them away from the new estate, while the boys learn of the secret money making scheme. Plus, the car race and murder attempt. We've got enough story for what would have been at least five episodes if this had been another season of the original show.
Today's prompt from the 31 Day Horror Challenge being hosted by Nightmare on Film Street, is Masters of Horror. I picked a Clive Barker movie with Hellraiser 3 Hell On Earth.
When a reporter witnesses a man being ripped apart by chains in the middle of the hospital, she begins to investigate the woman who brought him to the emergency. Her investigation leads her to a bar, the owner of whom has a strange new statue in his collection. The statue has embedded within it, not just the puzzlebox but Pinhead himself. The man beings to make sacrifices to the statue, feeding it blood. Soon, Pinhead is strong enough to escape the statue and beings to bring hell to the living.
I have to admit, movies three, four and five in the franchise are my favourites. There is something about the idea of personal morality over demonology in these three that I find more appealing than what is explored in some of the other installments of the franchise. Hell on Earth deals with despair and longing as shown through the woman who is being investigated, and eventually through the lead's dream world. Both are missing something they never actually had, and because of this are both easily manipulated by men. The young woman by her boyfriend the art collector, and the reporter by Pinhead.
