It is 147 days into the year and the main project. Which means, it's a Boos-Day (Tuesday) at the end of May. Yes May. Which means, we're almost a full month removed from Halfway to Hallowe'en... well, 27 days since Halfway to Hallowe'en. And your favourite ghoulfiend has noticed that my favourite Hallowe'en youtubers have already hit the streets running with their yearly Hallowe'en hunting videos. Like a hoard of zombies who've dug themselves out of their graves in a mindless shuffle of muscle memory at the scent of brains...
Yes, it seems the Great Pumpkin has arrived very early this year. Is it because the store goblins have realized that we the harvesters of sorrow need to feed the beast like a demonic monkey on our backs, is it because the retail gods figured out that in order to have a really great haunted house display, you've got to start planning on November 3rd for the next year, or is it an evil case of 2025 tariffs? Who's to say?
With so many of the stores down states having launched their Halfway to Hallowe'en collections last month - none of which made it up to my area of Canada by the way, we won't see a thing till after Canada Day on July 1st; I couldn't help but wonder if there's actually going to be anything released closer to the actual Hallowe'en season this year?
Spirit Halloween has already set the stage by not launching their Halfway to Hallowe'en spring collection; instead choosing to wait till this past week- an entire month later than usual; to post their 20 second sneak peak for this year's theme. And only after having made a grand announcement about how they were forgoing the usual flagship store event. All due to the evil case of 2025 tariffs. That's a virus that spread faster than the zombie apocalypse that was covid.
So where does that leave me and this post? Trying to plan to the best of my ability my personal Hallowe'en schedule. It's almost Canadian Hallowe'en Shopping Season which leads to Animatronics Season which everyone knows is Hallowe'en Decorations Season which leads to Treats Season. So I thought, Hallowe'en Bingo.

Now, if you've been following me for any length of time, you know I do a Halfway to Hallowe'en horror movie challenge each year on my Letterboxd, as well as a 31 Days of Hallowe'en movie challenge and I usually join in on the 31 Days of Horror challenge that Nightmare On Film Street hosts. Well, I thought why not add a few other things to the mix? With that in mind, I decided to create a small Hallowe'en Bingo for 2025. I chose to only do 20 tasks and not 31 because I'm already going to have a ton of stuff to try and accomplish once the actual Hallowe'en season starts. As I am doing at least my own 31 Days of Hallowe'en challenge, as well as working on my local magazine/zine. So I thought 20 tasks was enough.
The rules are fairly simple. One movie per task for the movie tasks. That means there are 11 movies tasks therefore, 11 different movies must be watched. And everything needs to be done and documented by Hallowe'en night.
I'll be doing this in the month of October.
