Well, it's May. I can't believe we've already made it to what is suppose to be mid-spring? It's Day 124 of the year and the project. If you've been following along for any length of time, then you know that for the last year and a half, I've been doing a One Movie A Day Challenge, where I watch one a day. Something I've done off and on over the years. But, since 2024, I've added a twist. Many movie fans, specially horror fans, have pointed out how the first movie you watch on January 1st can influence your whole calendar year. I found this to be true by accident in 2023. So, last year and this year I picked a movie I had previously watched before and now I am seeing how much of the movie actually is paralleling my year.
That's a lot for an intro. This year, I decided to watch Elvira Mistress of the Dark as my January 1st movie. And as I've talked about in my last few posts, it's paralleled about half already. Sadly, none of the good stuff.
And now, after such a lengthy start to the post...I don't have anything to report. Nothing really happened this month. I was sick. My mother was in hospital. That's about it. Watched a stack of horror films for Halfway To Hallowe'en and not much else happened since last month's post. So let's just take stock of a few of the movies I watched this month that I liked and disliked.
I liked Tarot Curse, White Noise and Rob Zombie's Halloween. I disliked Wild Witch and Pray for Morning. I did some mini-reviews/notes for them on my Letterboxd. You can check out my big One Movie a Day list and my Halfway To Hallowe'en list.
The only other thing I've been doing this month, is working on the magazine. I'm about to wrap up Issue 3 and start working on Issue 4. I might talk about that process at a later date.
I'll be back next month with the next part of the series.
