It's Day 360 of the year and the main project. Boxing Day here in Canada. Normally, I try to do this series at the beginning of the month, but I figured with this being the last of the series for this year, I would wait until the end of the month.

If you've been following along for any amount of time on this site, you know there is a theory with movie fans that the first movie you watch on January 1st will influence how that calendar year goes. I put that to the test after I had noticed some parallels in 2023 to a movie I watched. Anyways, for 2025 I watched the movie Elvira Mistress of the Dark as the first movie for the year, and I've been taking notes on what elements have paralleled my real life this year.

I've had all the drama that you see in the first 30 minutes and none of the good stuff in the rest of the movie. In fact, the same thing happened the last two years in a row. Each movie I watched on the first of 2023, 2024 and 2025; have all ended up paralleling my life in only what happens to the lead characters in the first half of the movie. All the sad, all the bad and all the drama. And none of the elements that happened in the second half of the movies. None of the happy stuff. I have yet to figure out why?

With that said, you can check out posts from the rest of the series to see what those elements were.

Normally, at this point in the post, I would then mention what movies I liked the most and / or was disappointed by the most in the month since I last posted an update. Honestly, it's been almost two full months, and nearly 60 movies that I've watched since, and nothing was overly great. If you want to see what I have been watching the last two months, you can check it out here on my daily Letterboxd list.

I think I'm going to wrap this up here. I honestly am not sure if I'm going to do my One Movie A Day challenge again in 2026 or not? It's something I've been doing off and on for almost 15 years, and I might take a bit of a rest in 2026. Normally, I have a plan in place by early December for any big projects I want to do for the following year, but after what happened in 2025, I just haven't planned anything for 2026. I think I'm going to take it slow and not really dive into any major projects this coming year.

Here's to 2026 being better than 2025.

It's Day 309 of the year and the main project. I can breathe a little now that I'm done the Hallowe'en season for the year. Slow down, and start planning the next Hallowe'en season. Which, no longer

Movie fans say, that the first film you watch on January 1st, sets the tone for you for the whole calendar year. I'm starting to believe...
