2024 Did The Movie Make Me Do It? part 6

May 1st 2024, and we are 122 Days into both the year and my project. I've gone into detail about the project in earlier parts of this series, but the quick of it is, that I am once again doing a One Movie a Day challenge and on top of that; I decided to experiment with the theory that whatever the first movie of the calendar year you watch will in some way influence your year.

The first movie I watched for the 2024 calendar year was Rob Zombie's The Munsters. Every month during 2024, I am coming in and just giving a small update in comparison to the main plot of the film to see the results.

So, with that said, what has been going on in my life since last month's check in? Health issues mostly. But, that's depressing and I'll just say, there's been a few doctor's appointments and leave that part there. Moving on towards something that sort of fits in with the main plot of The Munsters movie...I joined a new social website. It's called Slasher. It's an all horror site where fans can talk about their favourite horror movies and books etc. My first day on there, I had a brief flirtation with a random guy. Let's call it a semi-flirtation. He was one of only a few other Canadians on there, and right away, he messaged me and started to ask me about dating sites I am on. Bit odd given this is a site for horror fans and indie movie productions. But I took note because, well this series. Anyways, this guy began telling me about his sex life and believe it or not, I found myself rolling my eyes and thinking about the scene in The Munsters where Lily is disappointed by Orlock being a player. It was truly one of those kinds of moments. So weird.

Today is Halfway to Hallowe'en. And to celebrate it, I did a mini horror challenge the last two weeks. You can check my notes/mini reviews for that on my Letterboxd. I did a list just for that. It ran from the 17th of April till today May 1st.

As far as the main One Movie a Day Challenge goes, I think the two movies I enjoyed most since the last check in, were a Hallmark movie Blind Date Book Club and an action comedy Bulletproof Monk. Nothing from the Halfway to Hallowe'en really grabbed me to the point I was thinking about it afterwards. At least nothing I hadn't seen before, as I had a few in the mini horror challenge being movies I've seen before.

I think that might be it for now. I'll be back in early June with part 7.
