It's Day 94 of the year and of my project. 94 Days into a full year of watching One Movie A Day. The outline of which, I talked about in the first two parts of this series. The short of it being, the theory that the first movie you watch of the calendar year influences your life for that full year. The results being, that something in your life should parallel parts or all of the movie when you take a look back at the end of the year.
If you've been following along so far, you know that for 2024 I watched Rob Zombie's The Munsters as my first movie watch on January 1st. So, what's been going on since my last check in?
I turned 50 last month. Which I talked about the connection to the movie in another part of the series already. And much like the first half of the film, in which Lily is trying her hand at a dating site, I have been having spotty at best luck in that department. Mostly guys who are nothing more than scammers who refuse to answer any real questions and constantly change their profile while you're talking to them. I did however, have a match with a guy in my area who was nice enough. Too nice. Boring nice. Which was fine, as I know he was only talking to me because it seems I'm the only straight woman in our area using the app. Lucky me. We talked off and on for an hour. If you want to call "hi", "hi there", "this is awkward" a conversation. I did have two different men start randomly chatting with me while I was waiting for the bus two weeks ago. One was really cute, the other was wrapped up so much for the cold weather, I couldn't tell you anything other than he had blue eyes.
Okay, so now for the movie a day part of this; which you can follow along with on my Letterboxd. This month has been a month of nostalgia watching for me, as most of it has been classic movies from the early 1980's. There's been just a ton of great movies on television this last month and I've been totally in my element. But I think the two best things I've seen since my last check in were Ghostbusters 5 Frozen Empire which I saw the day after my birthday in cinemas. And the Tubi original Slay, which I didn't even count on the official one movie a day list. It was a bonus movie. Both movies were released on my birthday and I have to tell you, they were a nice birthday present to myself.
