2024- Did the Movie Make Me Do It? part 3

As I write this it's Day 34 of my 2024 One Movie a Day project. 34 days into the year, and that means a full month has pasted since I sat down to do this edge of the project. This corner, this foundation if you will. To see if purposely going into the new calendar year with an idea of how I would like to steer things, would basically work? Which I explained in both Parts 1 and 2 of this series. If you'd like to keep track of the actual movie list of movies per day you can do so on my Letterboxd.

The movie I picked was Rob Zombie's The Munsters. So, one month in and it's time to ask if my real life has started to mirror the movie yet? Well, the answer is yes and no. The start of the movie has the character of Lily on a date after joining a dating site, only the guy, Count Orlock ends up being a dud. She learns right there what she's willing to put up with in a man and what she's not. I've known for years what I consider deal breakers and what I will accept with a man. Have I had any dates this last month? No. But, I've had a fair number of guys hit the "Like" button on my dating profile. No one that I found interesting, sadly. Scratch that, there was one 'hot' guy, but he ended up having some hobbies that went into my deal breaker category. Do I feel I hit any milestones similarities? Well, the character of Lily is 150 in the film when she starts her romantic journey; the actor playing her, Sheri Moon-Zombie was 50 when she filmed the movie, and I turn 50 next month. So that's one thing.

I also can not stop thinking about the wardrobe in this movie. But that's another topic for another article.

Speaking of profiles, I created a brand new one on facebook. Not for dating, but for this site. I decided I needed a bit of a fresh start and was stuck as to how to do so. The only thing I could think of was creating a new "me". And since we are in a world of living online, a secondary facebook was about the only solution. So, Gloomy Ghoul Tombs Monthly, has it's own profile. Sort of. So far, it's connected to my Letterboxd community group, with the only friends being people from there. Fresh energy at least. It's slow going, as I'm currently so out of practice with the whole "let's be on social media 24/7" thing.

Well, might as well mention a few of the movies that I watched this month. The big highlight for me in January was The Munsters and a crime thriller called Chapel. I'm fairly certain it's a Tubi original.

I'll be back at the beginning of March with the next "Did That Movie Make Me Do It?" update.

Movie fans say, that the first film you watch on January 1st, sets the tone for you for the whole calendar year. I'm starting to believe...
