I admit, I'm not the biggest fan of the Friday the 13th franchise. Of all the horror movie icons, Jason is my least favourite. I've seen every movie in the franchise two maybe three times, but that's about it. Most of which I actually saw back in the late 1980's and very early 1990's. (1-9 of course as 10-12 were released in the 2000's) I know that it set the standard for that classic slasher movie vibe, making camping and horror one thought wave, but it just never grabbed me the same way Freddy or Chucky did.

I know, I know, the most unfavourites of most horror fans are actually my personal favourites. Knowing that they made the connection with the Evil Dead franchise cannon, back in the 1980's...I still have a hard time sitting through this set of movies.
I for some reason always thought the original Evil Dead which was shot in 1979 came out a few months before the Friday 13th. But the original Friday 13th, also filmed in 1979 came out first with a release date of May 1980, while the original Evil Dead wasn't released in cinemas until 1981.
For me, the Friday 13th movies that were released between 1981-1988 just blend together so much, I can't tell you one from the other. I just remember growing up in the 80's and seeing countless commercials on tv every few months for the films. This was also a time when a movie could literally stay at the cinema for a full year. Lot's of times, you could see an unintentional marathon of some franchise simply because the release dates overlapped.
Anyways, Happy Friday the 13th.
