It's Day 304 of my One Movie a Day for 2023, and day 31 of both my own 31 Days of Hallowe'en project, as well as 31 Days of Horror challenge being hosted by Nightmare on Film Street. Plus, can not forget the 100HorrorMoviesIn92Days challenge I joined this year.
And this is the part where I've been telling you that for the last decade, I've been doing a 13 Days of Hallowe'en on my old social medias, where I would do movie reviews, comedy skits and recipes. That would always run from the 19th-31st of October. But this year, I'm keeping it simple just between this new site and my Letterboxd.
Today's mini theme for both my own 31 Days of Hallowe'en and the 31 Days of Horror being hosted by Nightmare on Film Street is Set On Hallowe'en. I picked Halloween with the Addams Family.
The Addams are hosting a Hallowe'en party for the family, which now includes two new kids Pugsley Jr and Wednesday Jr. Gomez's brother is there as well. Gomez is packing for an over night stay with his lodge members, expecting to be promoted, but he's worried that his brother will try to seduce Morticia. Meanwhile, some of the party guests are actually art thieves pretending to be long lost members of the family. Grandma Frump is trying to create a flying potion and the kids are waiting for the Hallowe'en spirit to bring gifts for under the scarecrow.
It's cute, it's weird in the best way, and it's the 1970's. This was a made for tv movie, and it feels it, shot on videotape. It drags in places which is weird to say, given there is so much going on. They could have cut out half the storylines and it would have still worked. But, I guess they just wanted all the characters to have something to do.
