It's Day 286 of the year and main project, this brings us to Day 13 of the 31 Days of Hallowe'en challenge and the #31DayHorrorChallenge being hosted by Nightmare on Film Street.

Once again, I lucked out and found a movie that fits both challenges. My own 31 Days of Hallowe'en challenge mini theme is Must Have An Underwater Creature/Scare and the prompt for the 31 Days of Horror challenge being hosted by Nightmare on Film Street is Monster Must Be In Title. I picked Piranha.

After two hikers go missing near a military area, a bounty hunter is sent to find them. She stumbles across the military testing site deciding to drain the pool. Unknowingly, she has just let a school of mutant piranha into the local lakes. A local man helps her try and stop the fish from getting too far down stream, as there is a summer camp full of kids at the bottom of the river.

This was fine for what it was and the decade it was made in. Coming out a few years after the success of Jaws, Piranha does it's best to keep you too scared to get back into the water. Although this movie is far more bloody then Jaws was, it doesn't hold the same level of tension.

I'm posting everyday this month for the two 31 Day challenges, so come back tomorrow and see what's on the slab. If you want to follow along on my daily Letterboxd lists you can here and here.
